✨ March of the Writers: Day 5 – Hallowed Ground ✨

Are there any locations that have inspired your work? Is there a special place where inspiration seems to strike, almost like magic?

For me, there was once a hallowed ground for my writing—the cozy little coffee shop called The Coffee Beanery. It was the perfect spot, filled with the comforting aroma of coffee, soft murmurs of conversation, and an ambiance that made words flow effortlessly. But sadly, that chapter has closed, and since then, I haven’t found a new place that feels quite the same.

These days, I often imagine my perfect writing haven: a small cabin tucked away in the woods. A woodstove crackles gently, offering warmth and comfort. There’s just enough Wi-Fi to get things done but not enough to be a distraction. Surrounding me are bookshelves full of stories, each one a gateway to inspiration. The crickets chirping their song, and birds singing far and wide across the valley. In that solitude, I envision finding the peace and focus to let my creativity run wild.

How about you? Do you have a place that feels like sacred ground for your writing? Maybe it’s a cozy nook, a bustling café, or even a quiet park bench. I’d love to hear where you find your inspiration—drop a comment below and join the conversation on my blog! 💬👇

Excerpt from Whiskey and the Autumn Wind by Richard White:

*The amber glass sat heavy in my hand,
A quiet companion to the crackling fire.
Autumn’s breath slipped through the window,
Whispering her name, a ghost on the wind.

I swirled the whiskey, watched it cling to the glass—
How it held on, even as it faded.
Like the way her laughter hung in the air,
Long after the world turned quiet.

The cigar burned down, a slow surrender,
Its smoke curling with the shadows,
And I wondered if she still thought of me
When the leaves rustled their secrets.

Outside, the world turned gold and crimson,
Inside, only the soft hiss of the fire,
And the ache of unsaid words,
Sipped down with every bitter swallow.*

Whiskey and the Autumn Wind is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You can also request it at your local bookstore.
