March of the Writers: Day 1 Introduction

Hey everyone! I’m Richard White, a poet and storyteller from Amsterdam, NY. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until I started battling my own demons—like PTSD, depression, and anxiety—that I truly found my voice. Writing became my lifeline, and poetry, in particular, allowed me to express what words often couldn’t capture.

I’ve self-published six poetry collections, including Shattered Glass and Speaking to My Depression, which explore themes of mental health, love, loss, and resilience. My newest book, Whiskey and the Autumn Wind: A Collection of Poems in the Hemingway Tradition, takes a fresh approach while still embracing the raw, introspective style I love.

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me connecting with fellow creatives, enjoying nature, or sipping whiskey by a bonfire. I believe in the power of words to heal, connect, and inspire—and I’m excited to share more of my journey with you this month!

Follow along as I navigate #MarchOfTheWriters and let’s get to know each other better.
