2024 has been a year of digital decluttering—deleting apps, stepping away from events, and making intentional choices about where we spend our time. Some platforms have lost their spark, while others remain vital for connection and engagement.
For me, I’m sticking with the platforms that provide real engagement. My most active places are X and Bluesky, where conversations flow, and the writing community thrives. Facebook? It’s still in the mix, but if I were to drop one, that would be it. Engagement there is the lowest, and it feels more like a passive space rather than an interactive one.
One platform I’ve fully stepped away from is YouTube. It’s a time commitment I simply don’t have, and I’d rather focus on places where I can actively connect with fellow writers and readers.
As for events, I’m steering clear of anything that blurs the lines between creativity and politics. I have no space for negativity in my creative process, and I refuse to let outside noise distract from my passion for writing. Writing is an escape, a craft, and an art—I want to keep it that way.
What about you? Have you stepped away from certain platforms or events? Where are you still active, and why? Let’s talk about it!
