Writing is a journey—sometimes a marathon, sometimes a sprint. And like any great adventure, you need fuel to keep going. For some, it’s a perfectly brewed cup of coffee; for others, it’s an ever-present snack bowl within arm’s reach. For me? It depends on the day, the mood, and sometimes, the season. But let’s talk about the true MVPs of my writing desk—the snacks that keep the words flowing and the inspiration alive.
The All-Time Favorites: Funyuns and Monster Rehab Green Tea
When I need that extra crunch to keep my fingers tapping at the keyboard, Funyuns take center stage. They’re crispy, a little salty, and just the right amount of addictive. Sure, they might leave a little residue on my fingertips, but that’s what napkins (or strategic keyboard avoidance) are for!
And what better way to wash them down than with a Monster Rehab Green Tea? This drink is my go-to when I need a jolt of energy without feeling like my heart is about to run a marathon on its own. The green tea base gives just the right level of caffeine, balanced with a smooth taste that keeps me coming back for more.
The Healthier Option: Peppers with Cream Cheese and Everything Bagel Seasoning
On days when I want to convince myself that I’m making responsible life choices, I go for something a little fresher—mini sweet peppers filled with cream cheese and sprinkled with Everything Bagel seasoning. It’s crunchy, creamy, and packed with flavor, making it feel indulgent while still being (relatively) guilt-free. Plus, it doesn’t leave me feeling sluggish, which is a major win when I’ve got deadlines to meet.
The Seasonal Delight: Corned Beef, Cabbage, and Killian’s Irish Red
Today’s snack lineup is all about embracing the St. Patrick’s Day vibes. There’s something special about a hearty plate of corned beef and cabbage that just feels like home—rich, salty, and oh-so-satisfying. Paired with a cold Killian’s Irish Red, it’s the perfect way to settle into a writing session while celebrating a bit of Irish heritage.
There’s something about sipping a smooth, slightly malty beer while weaving together sentences that makes the process feel less like work and more like a creative indulgence. It’s a reminder that writing isn’t just about the words on the page—it’s about the experience of creating, the atmosphere we build around us, and yes, the snacks that keep us fueled.
