We Go Together: A Writing Community Like No Other

Once upon a dark and stormy night (okay, maybe just a late night with too much coffee), I found myself lost in the treacherous labyrinth of self-publishing. The shadows whispered doubts, the plot holes threatened to swallow me whole, and the blinking cursor mocked my existence. I needed allies—fellow wordsmiths who could help me survive this literary thriller.

Enter the writing community, a band of bohemian geniuses, crime-solving plotters, and poetic spellcasters. Joe Compton from Go Indie Now stepped onto the scene like a noir detective with a newsie full of wisdom. “Oh Captain, My Captain,” I muttered, knowing he had the knowledge to crack the case. JD Estrada, my literary alchemist, brewed up wisdom and inspiration, and our fateful meeting in Atlanta? That was the ultimate crossover episode.

Jim Nettles, the mastermind strategist, pulled me aside for late-night conspiracies about the writing industry, revealing secrets of the trade I never saw coming. Christie Stratos and C.L. Cannon, like a dynamic duo from an urban fantasy series, added their own magic and mystery to the mix. And then there was Katie Salidas, the ultimate plot twist—because what’s a good story without a little vampire bite?

But every great thriller needs red herrings, and the list of names influencing my journey just keeps growing—Anais Chartschenko, Heidi Angell, Timothy Bateson, Phoebe Darqueling, A.F. Stewart, Diane and Joshua Robertson. Each one a chapter, a subplot, a clue leading me further down this literary rabbit hole.

And let’s not forget the romance—because what is writing without a little love? Whether it’s falling head over heels for a new idea, chasing that perfect sentence like a long-lost lover, or staying up until dawn whispering sweet nothings to a manuscript, this passion is eternal.

The writing community isn’t just a group of people—it’s a full-fledged saga of mystery, fantasy, and plot twists. And me? I’m just grateful to be part of the story.

The list of people who have impacted my journey is far greater than I could name, but each and every one of them holds a place in my heart beyond even blood ties. They are my writing family—my tribe. The late-night talks, the laughter, the shared triumphs, and even the heartaches have shaped me in ways no one else could—except, of course, for our readers, who complete the story.

Now, tell me, fellow writers—who’s the next character in this adventure? Who will help us solve the greatest mystery of all… how to survive the writing life?
